The crust at Mia's comes out with a nice char, especially when you ask for the pizza well done. It's rolled a little too thick for my taste, but it has good flavor.

After a 30 minute subway ride from our hotel on the lower eastside, we arrived at Patsy's in East Harlem. This was definitely worth the trip. The sauce and cheese were perfect, although the crust was a little soggier than I like. This was Amy's favorite of the trip.

John's of Bleecker Street has been open since 1929. Their pepperoni slice had a very nice char which was even around the whole piza. The crust had good flavor too and reminded me a lot of 2 Amys.

For some reason at Otto's the separate the toppings on the pizza. This was the first time I've seen that.

Mario's pizza joint and wine bar(or enoteca). This was the pepperoni with chile oil. The chile oil added good spice to the pizza, but I found myself thinking back to my pepperoni pizza at Grimaldi's the day before. Really no comparison.

The only thing I liked about this slice was how little sause there was and the flavor of the crust overall. There was way to much cheese IMHO and the crust was too thick.

A margherita slice with a good flavored crust. The char around the crust was pretty uneven and the crust had uneven thickness. However, the cheese seemed nice and fresh and the sauce, made from San Marzano tomatoes, had great flavor.

These were the first slices I ate on my NY City pizza tour. They came Rocket Joe's Pizza, the closest place I could find open at 1 AM after I finally arrived at my hotel. This was pretty much your typical NY-style slice except the crust had sesame seeds on it. The seeds gave the crust a little texture and flavor but the purist in me was turned off a bit. Regardless, it hit the spot.

This was a very flavorful dish yet extremely simple. The watercress cut back the sweetness of the carmelized fennel and yellow curry.

This bowl of frites is considered a "side". Honestly, I didn't like them as much as other frites I've had, but then again I couldn't stop eating them either.

Little tastes of raw fish. From right to left...oyster, moscat jelly and pepper, wahoo, and weakfish with grapefruit.

An interesting version at Raku stuffed with Asian chiles, garlic, and thyme. I especially like the lemon mustard glaze.
